Nail Pricing Explained: Why Services Cost What They Do

By Linda J Reyes | Nails Done Right

If you’ve ever wondered why nail services are priced the way they are—you’re not alone.

Nails today are no longer a simple service. They’ve become detailed, creative, and highly personalized. What looks like “just a fill” often includes structure, balance, precision, and time that most people don’t see behind the scenes.

A basic 3-week fill is $60 and booked for 60 minutes. That hour is fully allocated:

  • 15 min — prep
  • 15 min — product application
  • 15 min — shaping
  • 15 min — polish

That is a complete, properly executed service.

But when appointments extend beyond 3 weeks—or when we add extras like chrome, nail replacements, French tips, or detailed nail art—the time required changes significantly.

For example:

  • Chrome alone adds multiple steps and at least 7 extra minutes
  • Nail replacements take 5–7 minutes per nail
  • Painted tips add 7–10 minutes total
  • Hand-painted art or crystals can add 10–15 minutes per nail

So the real question becomes: in a 60-minute appointment, what gets shortened?

The truth is—it all takes time. And not everything can be safely or properly fit into the same window without compromising the work.

This is why not every fill is the same, and why some services need to be planned with the proper time reserved.

Because nails that last aren’t rushed. They’re respected.

A Personal Note

After 40 years, this is the first time I’ve really talked about pricing like this—openly, and from the heart.

Because to me, you’re not just a client.

You’re my guest.

Someone who trusts me with your time, your hands, and your experience while you’re here. And that means everything to me.

There was a time I would spend 2, 3, even 4 hours on a set… and charge far less than what that time was worth.

And I reached a point where I had to make a decision:

Saying yes to everything was no longer sustainable.

It took me four decades of experience, growth, and learning to finally say—

My time matters.
My work matters.
And yes… I am worth it.

What You’re Really Investing In

When you sit in my chair, you’re investing in:

40 years behind the table—real, hands-on experience
A private, relaxed space… just you and me, one-on-one
Techniques that protect and respect your natural nails
The time and attention it takes to do things properly
Nails built for strength, balance, and long-term wear

Closing Thoughts

Pricing shouldn’t feel confusing.

It should feel clear… fair… and aligned with the level of care you receive.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about nails.

It’s about trust.
It’s about consistency.
And it’s about knowing that every time you sit in my chair,
you’re going to be taken care of the right way.
