Virgo Season Self-Care: Beauty, Healthy Routines & Doing What Makes You Feel Good

Virgo season self-care feels especially meaningful to me this year.

There is a lot of planetary action happening right now, and after an intense eclipse season, I feel like something is changing. Whether you follow astrology closely or simply notice shifts in your own energy, for me this feels like a time to come back to myself.

My health. My routines. My creativity. My business. And all those little things that make me feel good about being ME.

And yesterday, that started with my hair. 🌈

Sometimes You Just Need Rainbow Hair

My rainbow hair had faded mostly to yellow, so I decided it was time to bring it back to life.

I added a pop of turquoise at the top, hot pink and fuchsia underneath, and some fiery lava tones to blend into the orange and yellow.

And I LOVE it.

My hair is finally long again, and when I looked at myself with all that beautiful color, I realized something very simple:

I didn’t do my hair for anyone else. I did it because it made ME feel beautiful.

That’s becoming increasingly important to me.

I’m taking time to work on my own nails again. I’m focusing on my health and exercise routine. I’m paying attention to how I’m treating my body. I’m continuing my morning rituals, gratitude, affirmations and meditation.

Little by little, everything feels like it’s coming together.

Virgo Season Self-Care: Back to My Routine

Virgo season feels perfectly timed for this chapter of my life.

Virgo energy is associated with routines, organization, health, daily habits and taking care of the small things that ultimately create the bigger picture.

And that’s exactly where my focus is.

I’m not trying to change everything overnight.

I’m not trying to become somebody else.

I’m waking up every morning and asking myself:

What can I do today that makes me feel good?

Maybe it’s my morning meditation.

Maybe it’s moving my body.

Maybe it’s taking extra time with my hair.

Maybe it’s sitting down and finally doing my own nails.

Maybe it’s simply taking a few quiet minutes to appreciate the life I’ve created.

Those small choices add up.

After 40 Years of Making Other Women Feel Beautiful

I’ve been a nail technician for 40 years.

Think about how many hours that represents sitting across the nail table from women, creating beautiful nails, talking about life and helping someone leave my chair feeling a little better than when she arrived.

Making other people feel beautiful has been an enormous part of my life.

But after all these years, I’m remembering something important:

I deserve to give that same attention to myself.

Doing my hair isn’t superficial.

Doing my nails isn’t superficial.

Taking care of my body isn’t superficial.

Creating a morning ritual isn’t silly.

For me, they’re all different ways of saying:

I value myself enough to take care of myself.

And I don’t need anyone else’s permission or approval to do it.

Beauty and Self-Care Start With How You Feel

Working in the beauty industry for four decades has taught me that beauty isn’t only about what someone else sees.

It’s about how YOU feel.

There is something powerful about looking down at freshly done nails that make you smile.

There is something powerful about changing your hair because you feel like being colorful.

There is something powerful about moving your body, taking care of your health, sitting quietly in meditation or beginning the morning with gratitude.

None of those things have to be for somebody else.

They can simply be for you.

Yesterday, my rainbow hair reminded me of that.

Finding My Positive Energy After Eclipse Season

Eclipse season has felt like a period of release, reflection and rearranging.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I’m carrying forward and what I’m ready to leave behind.

And now that we’re in Virgo season, instead of feeling like I need to know exactly where everything is going, I’m focusing on what I can actually control:

My routines.
My health.
My creativity.
My attitude.
My business.
My nails.
My ridiculously colorful hair. 🌈💅
And the energy I choose to bring into each day.

I have always tried to focus on the positive.

That doesn’t mean pretending difficult feelings or difficult days don’t exist.

For me, it means asking:

What can I learn from this? What can I do with it? And where do I want to put my energy next?

Right now, I want to put that energy into creating a life that feels good from the inside out.

Doing What Makes YOU Feel Beautiful

Maybe that’s what this season is really about for me.

Coming back to myself.

Not because someone else tells me I’m beautiful.

Not because somebody notices the changes I’m making.

But because I notice them.

I feel them.

And when I looked at myself yesterday with my freshly colored rainbow hair, I felt beautiful.

That’s enough reason to keep doing more of what makes me feel that way.

So here’s to Virgo season.

Fresh routines.

Healthy habits.

Beautiful nails.

Colorful hair.

Morning rituals.

Gratitude.

Meditation.

And continuing to become more fully ourselves.

Do something today that makes YOU feel beautiful.
